Consider joining the Pennex family as a Packer at our Leetonia, OH location. The Packer inspects finished goods, ensures quality standards are met, and packs for shipment. This position verifies product specifications, labels packages, and prepares them for transport. This hands‑on role works closely with other team members to maintain a smooth workflow and contribute to the overall success of our production operations.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Repetitively lifts aluminum extrusions of lengths up to forty feet and weighing up to 50 pounds from metal basket carriers to packing conveyor.
- Gathers all materials needed for framing bundles, such as but not limited to: tape, stretch wrap, cardboard, paper, banding, etc.
- Visually inspects metal while forming bundles looking for burrs, scratches, chips, gouges, dents, bubbles, die lines, etc.
- Ensures all pieces meet or exceed customer specifications; contact foreman, supervisor or inspector for approval.
- Assembles bundles per foreman’s instructions utilizing packing materials to meet customer specifications.
- Records appropriate piece count or weigh count daily.
- Records time it takes to pack a bundle. Push baskets on wheels into or out of workstation.
- Carries scrap metal to scrap cart.
- Maintains a neat and orderly work area including general housekeeping of the work area.
- Adheres to strict safety and quality standards
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience
- One or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Shipping/packaging knowledge is preferred.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials and equipment
- Consistently exhibits a positive, respectful attitude towards co‑workers and customers
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers
- Ability to use measuring devices such as tape measures or rulers
- Ability to apply understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Must be able to pass pre‑employment physical and drug screen
- Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsor ships are not available
