Salary Range: $19.00 To $21.00 Hourly

Summary

Drives gasoline, liquefied gas, or electric powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices such as forklift, boom, scoop, lift beam and swivel hook, fork grapple, clamps, elevating platform, or trailer hitch, to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
  • Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials and transports load to designated area.
  • Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device.
  • Inventories materials on work floor, and supply workers with materials as needed.
  • Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags, labels, or production schedules.
  • Loads or unloads materials onto or off of pallets, skids, racks, shelves or lifting device.
  • Recharges batteries, fills fuel tank, or replaces liquefied gas tank. Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
  • Loads metal onto reel stands, uncoils or lift carts.
  • Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
  • Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination.
  • Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, skids, or other containers.
  • Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together.
  • Assembles crates to contain products such as parts or materials.
  • Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two-years related experience in the manufacturing industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in material handling, staging, and movement of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods
  • Basic knowledge of inventory systems (scanning, labeling, cycle counting)
  • Organizational skills to maintain clean, orderly work and staging areas
  • Attention to detail to prevent material damage and ensure accurate counts
  • Communication skills for working with production, shipping, and receiving team
  • Commitment to following safety procedures and reporting hazards promptly
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and adapt to shifting priorities
Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals. Ability to compute percent and to interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Must have the ability to obtain Industrial Forklift Certification
  • Must have valid drivers license.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
