Production Supervisor

Reports to:

Plant Manager

Overview

King’s Command is seeking a qualified candidate to lead one of our production teams at our facility located in Versailles, OH.

The Production Supervisor is a key front-line leader who facilitates teamwork and promotes a positive work environment. The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and contributing to achieving the daily production objectives while maintaining a safe work environment and producing product that conforms to product specifications.

Food manufacturing experience is required.

This is an ONSITE position.

Primary Responsibilities

The Production Supervisor directly oversees the day-to-day activities of the Production Team

Provide leadership and oversight for a departmental team of 20 or more production team members. Provide training and resources necessary to comply with plant Safety, Food Safety, Human Resources, and Workforce Development.

  • Support company safety initiatives by providing appropriate training for team members and performing routine auditing of the facility and compliance with safe work practices, identifying and implementing improvements in the work environment, and standardizing best practices. Ensure team members follow established policies/procedures. Initiate corrective action for identified at-risk behaviors and/or conditions.
  • Ensure production processes meet all necessary requirements related to food safety and product specifications. In coordination with FSQ and Maintenance teams, maintain facility, equipment, and work practices that comply with Sanitary Performance Standards (SPS) and Standard Sanitary Operating Procedures (SSOP) in compliance with regulatory and 3rd party audit requirements.
  • Develop a solid understanding and knowledge of processes and equipment. Facilitate training for the operations team on standard operating procedures to maximize operational effectiveness related to yield improvement, labor efficiency, and cost control.
  • Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of the assigned department to meet daily goals related to schedule attainment, efficiency, waste reduction, least-cost formulation, and other key metrics. Directly supervise the production process through effective communication of daily production objectives, assigning staffing resources, monitoring progress, verifying throughput rates, and making process adjustments to maximize effectiveness.
  • Maintain time and attendance for direct reports.
  • Complete daily reporting activities related to yield, productivity, schedule attainment, and other production reporting metrics.
  • Monitor and identify causes related to downtime and how to prevent.
  • Identify root cause(s) associated with process deviations and help determine corrective and preventative actions
  • Support and ensure compliance with company policies and coordinate with Human Resources to administer corrective actions / disciplinary actions, as necessary.
  • Provide direction and priorities to plant maintenance personnel when responding to non-routine work to minimize downtime.
  • Attend scheduled production, safety, and other meetings as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements Qualifications
  • Two or more years of experience leading department operations in a Food Manufacturing environment, with a strong preference for Meat and Poultry Further Processing experience.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team. Strong work ethic and high energy level.
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience in utilizing computerized systems, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
Additional Qualifications (Preferred)
  • HACCP / PCQI Training and Certification.
  • Background in Continuous Improvement. (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing)
  • Experience utilizing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Post-secondary education and training in Business and/or Operations Management, Meat Science, and Manufacturing Technology are preferred.
