Position: Team Leader - Making (I-Team)

Job Description

The Team Leader's role is to provide on-the-floor leadership to grow capability in their team and drive a self-sufficient team culture. The Team Lead is responsible for delivering operational targets and leading an engaged production team. The Team Lead drives safety, quality, continuous improvement, Associate development, team engagement and operating results for their assigned area. This role must proactively identify and action risks to safety, food safety, quality and production losses.

Team Leads must also lead and coach root cause problem solving, coordinate resource requirements effectively communicate priorities and elevate issues within their area and across shifts. Team Leads have thorough understanding and mastery of Manufacturing Reliability Fundamentals such as Integrated Work Systems (IWS) and the Factory Mars Operating System (FMOS/Daily Direction Setting DDS). This role will develop, execute and coach Cleaning, Inspect, Lubricate (CIL) Center Line (CL) and Defect Management for their assigned area.

The Team Lead will lead key FMOS connection points and own accountability for reliability data collection accuracy.

What will be your key responsibilities?
  • Lead and support the culture development of Mars, 5 Principles and Engagement
  • Ability to positively embrace and communicate change
  • Coach Mars safety standards, tools and techniques
  • Identify, evaluate and eliminate safety risks using behaviors based safety program and near miss reporting
  • Strong functional knowledge and ability to coach others on the HACCP systems
  • Coach team on use and application of Mars Quality Principle and site quality standards including specifications and cleaning checks
  • Proactively action identified food safety and quality risks via PRIMP and Non-Conformances
  • Lead daily direction connection points to visualize, prioritize and assign resources against escalated issues
  • Coordinate materials, staffing and resources to support line operation and changeovers
  • Lead team in delivery at or above target of following metrics: production reliability, mean time between failure, adherence to schedule
  • Ensure adherence of performance tracking tools including production systems, area boards and loss tracking systems
  • Coach, execute and drive continuous improvement for Autonomous Maintenance components including CIL, CL and Defect Management
  • Use MSE tools to achieve zero losses, ensure follow up to outages and root cause identification
  • Set next production team up for success by leading daily direction setting process, providing detailed explanations for all tangible performance such as safety, quality adjustments, top stop causes, downtime and reliability performance
  • Develop team members through functional and leadership capabilities using the Mars development process and overall skill development matrix
  • Accountable for the team training plan and skill matrix for all team members on team and ensuring qualification targets are met
  • 90% of time on production floor working with the Associates to deliver results
  • Flow to work as needed to meet the business need
  • Continuously monitor and where applicable coach operators to ensure ROC sheets provide clear and accurate data including Timings, Issue, Actions, Technical Input and where possible Root Cause
  • Ensure JTMs take place and the correct people attend
  • Ensure standard running conditions are always met & represents operations in Daily and leads Weekly FMOS meetings as required
  • Create weekly crewing plan to ensure non-core running crew are allocated tasks e.g. Hygiene, Quality, Ownership, TMS and Safety
  • Ensure QSSM compliance throughout factory and issue QSSM amendments as required whilst liaising with R&D
