Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain unwind/rewind of press.
- Comply with all company and department safety, quality, productivity and security procedures.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance of operator documentation involving all aspects of the assigned machines—including production reports, specification verification, quality requirements, machine logbooks and checklists.
- Safely operate a forklift.
- Complete quality checks on rolls before mounting on press.
- Set up and maintain auto splicing unit.
- Scan production order into RFGN.
- Strip cores.
- Communicate all machine and department issues effectively to department manager and supervisors.
- Present data-based solutions in keeping with Continuous Improvement Objectives.
- Remove empty cores and prepare for shipment and the Press Rewind.
- Perform change overs and set up roll stand for different roll widths.
- Perform other duties as assigned by department manager, supervisor, or lead operator.
- Understand and monitor the 5S system and take full ownership of working environment.
- Assist when possible in keeping WIP materials to a minimum.
- Assist crew members with make‑ready activities to include change plates, dr. blades, ink, etc.
- Complete preventative and routine maintenance on splicer unit.
- Assist Flexo crew members as needed.
- Be willing to accept training and feedback as needed (for compliance with job requirements).
- Ability to communicate effectively to establish a strong working relationship with all team members.
- This position demands continuous walking, twisting, bending, stooping and lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work in an environment that is dusty, noisy, hot and humid.
- Must be able to work any shift and work overtime with short notice.
- Must be able to visually identify quality issues.
- Must be able to think "outside the box" and collect and utilize data in decision making.
- Candidates must be proficient in English, with the ability to communicate, read, and understand work‑related instructions and safety procedures and requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Manufacturing experience.
Demonstrates proficiency in operating and maintaining unwind/rewind press machinery while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Capable of effective communication and collaboration within a manufacturing environment to support continuous improvement objectives.
