Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

Position Summary This role splits time between the Office of Instruction ( OVPI ) and the Office of Service-Learning ( OSL ), reporting jointly to OVPI’s Director of Communications and the OSL Director. The communications specialist plans, coordinates, writes, and edits a wide variety of content to promote the university’s broader instructional and service‑learning missions. Working closely with campus units, internal stakeholders, and other communications staff, this position coordinates content production and aligns messaging with the division’s overall communications strategy.

Knowledge,

Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Excellent writing and copyediting skills using AP style
  • Can develop engaging stories aligned with the university’s strategic plan
  • Familiarity with photography/videography best practices (Experience in photography a plus)
  • Strong organizational, project management, and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once and maintain high attention to detail
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, administration, and various external stakeholders
  • Proficient in typical office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and website content management systems (e.g., Word Press)
Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit at a computer/desk for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift and carry boxes of promotional items or collateral weighing approximately 15–20 pounds
  • Ability to walk across campus
