The Ridgeway Transformative Leadership Program is a cohort-based leadership development initiative serving Central Appalachia. Ridgeway supports emerging and established leaders working to create stronger, more resilient local economies and communities across the region. As the program enters its second decade, it is focused on strengthening organizational systems, expanding regional partnerships, and building sustainable resources to increase its long-term impact. The project is fiscally sponsored by Mountain Association and implemented in partnership with Y’all Art.
The VISTA will build organizational capacity by coordinating regional leadership networks, strengthening communications systems, and assisting with fundraising activities such as grant research, donor tracking, and campaign preparation. Ideal candidates are organized, collaborative, self-motivated, and interested in community development, leadership, communications, data management, fundraising, or nonprofit capacity building. Strong writing, project management, and relationship-building skills are helpful. The project is based in Eastern Kentucky, a region known for its rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, close-knit communities, and growing efforts to create new economic opportunities.
Individuals relocating to the area will find welcoming communities, access to outdoor recreation, and the opportunity to contribute to meaningful regional change. For more information about the project, program activities, and application process, interested candidates should contact Stewards Individual Placements.
Develop a plan for the growth and coordination of Ridgeway’s regional network, with a particular focus on staff engagement with women leaders working toward a just transition in Eastern Kentucky. Responsibilities include developing a plan for convenings and communications, strengthening engagement strategies, supporting relationship-building across partners and participants, and developing fundraising systems such as grant writing, development planning, and early-stage capital campaign preparation.
