Position: Job Education Specialist

Job Overview

The position reports to Corps Officers and supervises After School and Summer Enrichment Program Staff. This is a non-exempt position, varying to cover After School Program and Summer Enrichment Program schedules, along with Corps Activities, with a commitment of 35-40 hours per week. The function is to provide oversight and support to the after-school program, summer enrichment program, and children at The Salvation Army of Northern Kentucky.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include creating and maintaining a program area, visiting local schools for mentoring, spearheading licensing processes, ensuring compliance with child care standards, reporting statistics, connecting families to corps ministries, planning family activities, providing oversight to premium programs, maintaining kitchen and feeding program standards, scheduling staff, developing relationships with parents and agencies, overseeing program staff, promoting programs, serving as a point of contact for partners and parents, managing program administration, ensuring child safety and welfare, coordinating activities, supervising assistants and volunteers, cooperating with staff, supporting Christmas and fundraising activities, answering phones, supporting emergency assistance, following rules and policies, and performing any other duties assigned by Corps Officers.

Qualifications

Qualifications include a high school diploma, compliance with state licensing standards, effective communication skills, safety consciousness, being at least 21 years of age, a valid driver's license, the ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English, self-motivation, high organization, the ability to work with individuals of varying needs, handling difficult situations professionally, and an understanding of the mission of The Salvation Army.
