Licensed Practical Nurse responsible for delivering patient care, managing medications, and participating in care planning and emergency response within the correctional facility environment.

• Provides patient care as directed
• Documents patient‑related care timely within the electronic health record
• Maintains patient medical records
• Administers medication, including oral and intramuscular medications; may administer intravenous therapy if appropriately certified
• Performs treatments
• Assists with Doctor’s Sick Call
• Assists with chronic care clinic management
• Participates in patient care planning and treatment team activities
• Responds to emergencies
• Provides emergency care and collection of patient data
• Collects vital signs and documents findings
• Collects urine and/or other body fluid specimens
• May perform venipuncture to obtain blood samples for laboratory analysis
• Prepares patients for release and/or transfer by reviewing patient care and completing required summaries
• Ensures discharge medication orders are completed and forwarded to pharmacy services
• Participates in work‑related training and all institution training exercises as assigned
• Provides assistance to other healthcare staff
• Investigates and documents problem areas and/or areas of concern
• Reviews shift reports from preceding shift(s)
• Assists physicians with medical procedures
• Assumes duties of other nurses during absences
• Observes, documents and provides nursing support to assistive personnel (e.g., nurse aides, psychiatric attendants, patient care assistants)
• Provides patient education regarding healthcare maintenance and disease prevention
• Participates in continuous quality improvement activities
• Performs administrative duties
• Attends meetings
• Schedules multidisciplinary team meetings
• Performs and/or assists with inventory and ordering of medical supplies
• Assists ancillary staff (Health Information Technicians, medical schedulers) as needed to ensure patient care needs are met
• Works overtime as required

License to practice nursing as a licensed practical nurse issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing pursuant to Section 4723 Ohio Revised Code; MDS certification issued by ANNAC (American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination).
