ResponsibilitiesAdminister nursing care within the scope of practice outlined in sections 4723.01 to 4723.40 of the Ohio Revised Code. Work under the direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, dentist, podiatrist, or optometrist. Perform skilled practical nursing procedures and treatments, including obtaining vital statistics, applying oxygen, sterile dressing, inserting catheters, reinserting gastroscopy tubes, suctioning, wound treatments, administering enemas and douches, obtaining specimens, administering enteral feedings, and administering medications through oral, rectal, topical, inhalation, subcutaneous, and intramuscular routes.
Observe, document, and report patient conditions, provide patient teaching, monitor patients during and after procedures, assist the RN and physician as needed, respond to emergencies, provide first aid, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and use AED equipment.
Maintain medical accountability records and prepare related reports and forms, verify and implement physician orders, maintain controlled drug administration and tracking records, complete infection control documentation, and maintain supply inventories. Communicate with pharmacy to maintain medication stocks, clean equipment and work areas, answer phones, file documents, copy and fax, provide general nursing care, train lower‑level direct staff in general unskilled nursing tasks, attend medical appointments and meetings, respond to patient alarms, and maintain supervision levels.
Mandatory overtime is required for this position.
