This position requires a licensed Registered Nurse (RN). Under a nurse’s supervision, the nurse performs technical, clerical, and clinical tasks associated with patient home care, including assessment, IV access, port access, education, and infusion of injectable medications.
Patient records, pharmacy quality control, inventory management, and order preparation are also part of the role.
Pay: $40–$50 per hour (DOE)
Hours:
10–30 per week, minimum 24 hours weekly on average; 30 hours weekly required for benefits.
- Infuse patients in their homes and travel to and from patient locations.
- Commit to a minimum of 24–30 hours per week average; 30 hours per week required for benefits.
- Administer specialty medications via IV, subcutaneous injections, or other methods as prescribed.
- Monitor patients during infusion for adverse reactions or complications.
- Assess patients’ medical history, allergies, and current medications before treatment.
- Evaluate physical condition and vital signs before, during, and after infusions.
- Identify and document potential risks, side effects, or infusion therapy issues.
- Educate patients and caregivers about medication, including mechanism, side effects, and expectations.
- Provide instructions on managing side effects or emergencies at home after infusion.
- Continuously monitor patients for immediate reactions during and after infusions.
- Schedule follow‑up calls or visits to monitor patient progress and any delayed side effects.
- Adjust care plans based on patient feedback and health changes.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of infusion process, patient responses, adverse events, and medication administration.
- Document patient education and follow‑up instructions, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
- Collaborate with nursing team, pharmacists, and pharmacy staff to coordinate patient care and treatment plans.
- Communicate issues or concerns regarding treatment effectiveness or patient reactions to the clinical nurse supervisor.
- Prepare and handle medications, verifying correct medication and dosage for each patient.
- Ensure sterile techniques and safety protocols during infusion; adhere to infection control guidelines.
- Monitor medication stock levels and coordinate with pharmacy team for inventory management.
- Support insurance verification or authorization processes for specialty medications.
- Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
- Participate in CSI’s Immunoglobulin Mentorship Program as required.
- Serve as an IgCN mentor to new or transferring nursing staff, providing guidance, coaching, and professional support.
- Assist with training activities, including review of materials, protocols, and patient care standards.
- Act as a clinical resource during the mentee’s orientation or transition period.
- Document mentorship activities, observations, and competency assessments per CSI policies.
- College degree or certification required, or equivalent experience.
- Registered Nurse (RN) with at least 2 years experience (Required).
- ER/ICU/Infusion experience with at least 1 year preferred.
- Experience accessing PIV lines, ports, and maintaining PICC lines for at least 1 year (Required).
- Infusion experience in a hospital or home health setting preferred (1 year).
The employee is regularly required to talk or hear, stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, use hands and fingers, handle objects, reach with arms, and frequently lift up to 20 pounds. Close vision and ability to adjust focus are required.
Work EnvironmentThe employee will be required to drive daily for meetings and/or visits to residential homes and will work in varied residential environments, possibly traveling by automobile and exposed to changing weather conditions.
