Location and Department
Casper, Wyoming – Emergency Center – Hospital work shift:
Evening (3:00pm – 3:00am), 3 days per week including weekends and holidays.
Full‑time Emergency Nurse providing comprehensive nursing care in a 27‑bed Emergency Department that serves as the starting point for a nationally recognized Stroke Center, STEMI Center, and Trauma Level II program. The role involves direct patient care, interdisciplinary collaboration, and participation in a diverse range of clinical services from forensic nursing to pediatric emergency care.
Core Functions- Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
- Review patient history, physical exam, diagnostic tests, and laboratory data; communicate abnormal results to physicians and other caregivers.
- Formulate and revise a patient‑specific plan of care, including discharge planning, based on assessment data and input from the patient, family, and health team.
- Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination of services, delegation, and supervision of the health care team.
- Provide care according to physician orders and nursing protocols, ensuring compliance with policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise the plan of care as needed to achieve realistic, measurable goals.
- Document assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and patient progress in the record in a legible and timely manner.
- Deliver care based on evidence‑based practice and participate in research, unit leadership, and educational activities.
- Support and mentor junior staff; contribute to professional organizations and quality improvement initiatives.
- Supervise staff and workflow in certain roles, and interact with all levels of staff, external contacts, and community providers to coordinate comprehensive care.
- Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice (or temporary/interim or compact RN). BLS certification required.
- At least 12 months of recent acute‑care experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Annual validations and maintenance of clinical performance competencies appropriate to the specialty area.
- Banner Registry and Travel acute‑care positions require a minimum of one year of acute‑care hospital experience.
- Home Health candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and active auto insurance coverage; an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and Criminal History Affidavit may be required for certain behavioral health positions in Arizona.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field preferred.
- Professional certification in trauma nursing and/or pediatric emergency nursing preferred.
- Additional related education, specialty certifications, or experience preferred.
Shift: 3:00pm – 3:00am. Three days per week, including weekends and holidays.
