Job Description Summary
Part‑time casual RN in the emergency department at Van Wert Hospital. Provides general nursing care to patients and families throughout the continuum of care in a diverse, acute health‑care setting. The department operates 24/7/365.
The RN is accountable for nursing practice as defined by the Ohio Board of Nursing, delegates nursing tasks to licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and unlicensed assistive personnel (UAPs) per the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, and provides professional nursing care services to patients per department policies and nursing care standards. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for assigned patients.
Responsibilitiesand Duties
- Assessment/Diagnosis – Performs initial, ongoing, and functional health status assessments (30%).
- Outcomes Identification/Planning – Documents planned nursing interventions to achieve outcomes based on diagnoses and collaborative problems (30%).
- Implementation/Evaluation – Evaluates and documents responses to nursing interventions, revises plan of care as needed (20%).
- Leadership – Actively participates in process improvement to achieve clinical quality, customer satisfaction and financial performance measures (10%).
- Operations – Performs operational duties (10%).
- High Reliability Organization requirements – Focus on safety, quality and efficiency.
- Current Registered Nurse license from the State of Ohio or a qualifying multi‑state compact.
- BLS certification.
- BSN required within five years of employment.
