Registered Nurse RN Medical Unit

Position Summary

Registered Nurse (RN) for the Medical Unit – a 65‑bed unit serving a diverse patient population including Infectious Disease and Nephrology. Compensation includes a $20,000 hiring bonus with relocation assistance possibilities.

Work 3, 12‑hour shifts per week. Day and night shift opportunities available.

• Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs. Review patient history and physical with patient/family and ensure completion within appropriate time frames. Review diagnostics and laboratory data and report abnormal results to physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers. Complete assessment and reassessments according to patient need and policy.

• Formulate a plan of care, including discharge plans, based on assessment data and patient/family/health team input. Initiate a plan of care that addresses patient-specific needs and includes realistic, measurable goals developed with the patient/family. Consider physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age‑specific, and educational needs.

• Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health care team. Provide care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, complying with policies, procedures, standards of care, and regulatory requirements. Delegate appropriately and supervise nursing and other personnel as needed.

• Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching, revising the plan of care as needed. Evaluate patient progress toward goals and outcomes in collaboration with the health care team.

• Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record. Ensure documentation is legible, timely, and reflects objective/subjective data, nursing interventions, and patient responses. Note physician orders accurately and promptly.

• Provide care based on best available evidence and participate in research activities within clinical practice. Engage in unit or facility shared leadership and contribute to education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, and families.

• Participate in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes. Engage in professional organizations and community activities that enhance patient outcomes and facilitate equitable, efficient, and safe care.

• Supervise staff and workflow of the department in some roles. Interact with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts to coordinate patient care and provide spiritual support when needed.

• Current, valid RN license in the state of practice or temporary/interim RN license or compact RN licensure.
• BLS certification.
• One year of acute care experience as an RN in a specialty area within the past 12 months (for Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions).
• Maintained clinical performance competencies as demonstrated through annual validations.
• Required fingerprint clearance cards for employees at specific Banner facilities as noted in the original posting.

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Professional certification preferred.
• Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
