Position Summary

This full‑time, day shift Registered Nurse position is part of Banner Health’s New Nurse Experience (NNE) program. The role involves being clinically mentored by unit staff and educators while providing quality nursing care to patients under the guidelines of Banner Health’s standards of professional nursing practice.

Responsibilities (CORE FUNCTIONS)

Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs; review history and physical and laboratory data; report abnormal results.

Formulate a plan of care, including discharge planning, based on assessment data and patient/family input; revise plan as patient needs change.

Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the healthcare team; provide nursing supervision to other licensed nurses and personnel.

Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise the plan of care as needed; evaluate progress towards goals.

Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record; ensure documentation is legible, timely, and reflects objective/subjective data.

Provide care based on evidence, participate in research activities, and engage in unit or facility shared leadership.

Participate in the education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors; mentor and precept when appropriate.

Contribute to society through activities that improve patient outcomes and participate in professional organizations.

Supervise staff and workflow of the department when applicable.

Interact with all staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts; provide spiritual support through clergy interaction.

Qualifications

Current, valid RN license in state of practice (including temporary/interim or compact RN licensure).
BLS certification required.
Minimum of one year acute care experience at the time of hire; experience in specialty area within the past 12 months preferred.
BSN preferred; ADN accepted at select locations.
Radiation safety and driver’s license requirements may apply for specific roles.
Must maintain completion of annual competencies and validation of clinical performance.
Additional certifications or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.

Flat rate $1.50 per hour weekend shift differential.
15% night shift differential when applicable.
