- The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care. The staff nurse functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability. They are responsible for maintaining standards of practice and coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.
Education:
- Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing (Required)
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
- No experience required
- New graduates of a nursing program eligible (Required)
- Nursing experience in a hospital setting (Preferred)
- 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions (Preferred)
Certifications:
- RN – Registered Nurse – Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure. Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNCL Multistate License. (Required)
- BCLS – Basic Life Support (Required)
- Cardiac Tele: ACLS Certification required within 180 days of start date.
- Critical Care: ACLS Certification required within 180 days of start date.
- Dialysis: CDN (Certified Dialysis Certificate) – Preferred.
- Emergency Department: ACLS and PALS Certification required within 180 days of start date. Experienced E‑Department nurses will have 6 months to obtain the PALS certification.
- Infusion/Oncology: Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification prior to independent chemotherapy administration upon hire.
- Pediatrics: PALS Certification required within 180 days; PEARS or PALS Certification required at respective campuses within 180 days.
- Surgical Services: Pre Op/PACU/ENDO/CSU certification, ACLS; PALS if unit provides care to pediatric patients – required within 180 days.
- Women's Services: Labor and Delivery ACLS Certification, NRP by end of orientation period, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Program within 12 months, NICU/NRP, Mother/Baby, Nursery – NRP required within 180 days.
