The Registered Nurse must bring substantial specialized knowledge, judgement, and nursing skills based on the principles of psychological, biological, physical, and social sciences. Must collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to provide physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families, supervising assigned team members and students.

• Complete patient assessments, formulate care plans, oversee implementation, and evaluate and adjust plans using critical thinking.
• Perform nursing acts authorized by the board consistent with ANA Standards of Practice or other nationally accepted standards.
• Provide care, counsel, health teaching and promotion using Teach‑Back methodology to confirm understanding.
• Administer medication, intravenous therapy, and prescribed treatments.
• Supervise, delegate, and follow‑through with personnel performing nursing care activities.
• Mentor students and orient new staff.
• Report pertinent information up the chain of command to the Clinical Nurse Manager, Nurse Manager or House Nurse Coordinator.
• Participate on teams, committees, or performance‑improvement initiatives.
• Ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, coworkers and self.
• Participate in discharge planning and transition of care, defining patient needs.
• Act as a patient advocate and promptly address patient‑related concerns.
• Document pertinent findings promptly in the medical record.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and serve as an active team member.
• Assume responsibility for personnel professional development.
• Use effective communication, listening, compassion and empathy.
• Apply SBAR for "Hands‑Off" communication and perform bedside shift reporting using SBAR.
• Serve as a positive role model and adhere to professional conduct codes.
• Respect dignity and confidentiality regarding all patient matters.
• Refer to the Special Addendum and Staff Nurse Position Description as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Associate’s Degree mandatory.

• BLS mandatory upon hire.
• Mandatory de‑escalation training within 6 months of hire.
• Mandatory Advanced Dysrhythmia/EKG knowledge for Med/Surg telemetry units.
