- Provide intermediate animal care to patients: walking, watering, feeding, transporting, restraining, and grooming.
- Lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Administer medication, monitor vital signs, and collect samples of bodily fluids (blood or urine).
- Maintain clinical records via written chart recording and entry of charges into Vet View software.
- Establish effective working relationships with senior veterinary staff and clinicians, assisting with animal care.
- Assist with all aspects of a patient’s treatment and care, maintaining clear knowledge of medical condition, treatment, prognosis, and plan.
- Inform attending clinician of any changes or deterioration in a patient’s condition in a timely manner.
- Use downtime to assist other units with patient care and treatment when appropriate.
- Stock supplies of cleaning products and patient‑care equipment.
- Ensure facility cleanliness using mop, broom, and chemical cleaning supplies to sanitize cages and floors.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently throughout the day on hard floor surfaces.
- Manual dexterity sufficient for accurate work with small, delicate equipment or large heavy objects.
- Wear all protective gear including mask, gloves, gown, hairnet, safety goggles, etc.
- Work for long periods with arms extended.
- Graduate of an AVMA accredited Veterinary Technician program.
- Hands‑on animal care experience.
- Basic knowledge of veterinary care terminology for small and large animals.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment requiring self‑motivation, compassion, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
