We manage the state park system and programs to inventory, interpret and protect Tennessee's rich natural, historical and archaeological heritage.

Join the team at Roan Mountain State Park in Roan Mountain, TN (22 miles southeast of Elizabethton, TN), and work in a stunning mountain setting surrounded by nature and abundant opportunities for outdoor recreation. This park offers a diverse range of facilities and experiences, including campgrounds, cabins, backcountry camping, hiking trails, a museum, gift shops, a conference center, a game room, playgrounds, and picnic areas.

The Assistant Park Manager position will assist the Park Manager with overseeing park operations, visitor services, budget, and improvement projects. This includes the requirement of a flexible work schedule to be on‑call and work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• Supervise and lead assigned park operations and staff, ensuring effective scheduling, communication, training, and daily operations.
• Serve in a leadership role for safety and security, helping ensure the safety of staff and guests while maintaining compliance with TSP policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
• Support resource protection and management efforts, including invasive species removal, restoration of natural and cultural resources, stewardship activities, and visitor education.
• Provide interpretive programming that promotes the park's mission and connects visitors to its history, natural resources, cultural resources, and recreational opportunities.

Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Natural Resources, History, Parks and Recreation Management, or a related field and three years' fulltime professional park and conservation experience. Qualifying graduate coursework or professional park law enforcement, park management, or park interpretive work may substitute for the required experience or education, respectively. Preference may be given to those candidates with three years experience in parks and recreation management.
