POSITION OBJECTIVE
Working under general supervision, the Research Assistant 2 will plan and carry out activities of grant funded oral health disparities studies to reduce caries disparities in community settings. The research assistant will assist the research team with all aspects of the study including participant recruitment, retention, data collection and management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Plan and carry out projects in accordance with general plans. Recruit participants and collect study data during on-site subject visits at community locations as outlined in the study protocol. Conduct a series of research activities to supply scientific information as part of a larger project by conducting follow-up interviews with participants to obtain additional and/or clarifying information. (35%)
- Build and establish relationships with participants and community site staff to ensure successful completion of study objectives. Maintain communication with study subjects, aiding in participant retention, to obtain scheduled visit details for completion of follow-up in-person study visits. (20%)
- Monitor data collection activities for the study. Oversee data entry of participant responses into the database, audit entered data, perform quality control to ensure that data is entered correctly and assist with data analysis. (15%)
- Partner with other research staff to develop and maintain updates of protocols and manual of procedures (MOP) for the study. (10%)
- Collect and analyze data from interview surveys and compile summary data for weekly project meetings, progress reports, IRB submissions, presentations and manuscript submissions. Develop materials for professional and public presentations of the results. (10%)
- Work with the principal investigator and research operations manager to implement and ensure compliance with study protocols. May assist in developing improved techniques, projection methods or procedures for scheduling, tracking and completing subject visits. (6%)
- Train new staff or work study students on policies and procedures. (2%)
- Oversee inventory of study materials to ensure all items are stocked and available when needed (2%)
