Post Doc - Cunningham Lab
Position Summary:
This position will fulfill the research goals of the USDA‑ARS Non‑Assistance Cooperative Agreement ‘Managing whiteflies and whitefly‑transmitted viruses in vegetable crops in the southeastern U.S.’ under the direction of Dr. Christopher Cunningham. The role supports single‑cell RNA‑sequencing and/or the identification of DNA methyltransferase 1’s protein partner objectives and general laboratory operations and science objectives. The post‑doctoral associate will also seek and help prepare extramural funding applications to support ongoing and new science objectives of Dr.
Cunningham’s group.
- Conduct laboratory research, experimental design, setup, and perform experiments – including DNA/RNA/protein extractions, PCR, quantitative real‑time PCR, protein gels and assays, microscopy, single‑cell disassociations, preparation of single‑cell libraries, quality control of sequencing libraries, and project management of sequencing library runs (approximately 50% of time).
- Conduct bioinformatic, microscopy image, and data analyses – including quality control and analysis of experimental data from functional genomic, epigenetic, microscopy, and single‑cell RNA‑seq experiments (approximately 30% of time).
- Prepare manuscripts for peer‑reviewed journals, present project objectives and experiments at national and international meetings, mentor students, and assist other laboratory members with experiments as needed (approximately 10% of time).
- Other duties as assigned (approximately 10% of time).
