Assistant Research Scientist - Ferguson Lab (Ph.D.)

This senior research position is in a molecular biology laboratory focused on avian pathogens. The role involves conceptualizing and executing research protocols, analyzing data, presenting findings, and preparing manuscripts and grant proposals.

• Conduct independent studies on avian mycoplasma vaccine development, novel diagnostics, and immune response epidemiology (approx. 60% of time).
• Analyze data, prepare oral and written reports, and produce manuscripts (approx. 30%).
• Coordinate and integrate lab projects, assist in training graduate and undergraduate students, and teach the graduate course POPH 8900 – Problems in Population Health (approx. 10%).

• Ph.D. in avian medicine, infectious diseases, epidemiology, or a related field.

• Standard laboratory skills and expertise in molecular biology techniques.
• Experience supervising research projects and experimental design.
• General computer proficiency.

Ability to stand or sit for long periods; lift up to 50 lbs.
