DescriptionThe Route Merchandiser is responsible for driving a company vehicle over an established route to merchandise store products. The driver is responsible for filling and maintaining their 24/7 market stores.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Merchandising:
Merchandise products according to store layouts and POGs, roll‑out promotions, gather and report customer feedback, maintain established inventory levels for all products sold, including soft drinks, pre‑packaged food, sandwiches, salads, soups, wraps, fruits, vegetables, candy, pastry, and snack items. Restock shelves, coolers, and coffee, follow protocols for inventory tracking and product rotation, collect and record out‑of‑date, rejected or unsold merchandise, and monitor shelf life to minimize spoilage losses. - Product Delivery:
Review inventory requirements to identify what products are needed for each point of sale; work closely with the warehouse to ensure all products are ready for delivery; load and unload products using proper safety protocols; drive the company vehicle to deliver merchandise; maintain open lines of communication with management regarding account product changes and recommended scheduling changes. - Cash Handling:
Collect money from kiosks, follow cash handling and loss prevention protocols, record transactions on appropriate forms and/or handheld device, and monitor and report any activity that seems out of the norm or raises concern about potential misconduct. - Food Safety & Sanitation:
Ensure proper handling and refrigeration of all perishable items during transit and while stocking products; keep coolers at appropriate temperatures; perform routine cleaning of coffee machines, microwaves, coolers, racks, shelves, tables, counter tops, floors and windows at and around each point of sale. - Customer Interaction & Team
Collaboration:
Greet clients and customers in a friendly and professional manner, communicate effectively to address questions or concerns, provide product suggestions, and give feedback to improve route efficiency and customer satisfaction. - Inventory:
Conduct full inventory counts as required by company protocol. - Audit:
Inspect food quality and appearance, report stale products, review pick sheets, and conduct final walk‑through. - Additional:
Projects and assignments as needed.
- High‑School Diploma or GED.
- Must be able to pass DOT physical requirements.
- Clean driving record.
- Prior experience driving a 16 ft box truck or similar.
- Prior retail experience and familiarity with basic merchandising concepts strongly preferred.
- Basic computer skills: iPad, handheld scanner, smartphone, and other technology.
- Climbing in‑and‑out of a vehicle.
- Loading and unloading products from the vehicle.
- Bending, stooping, pulling/pushing, and twisting required.
- Walking and standing for long periods.
- Regular lifting 25–50 pounds.
