We are working with a leading retailer who are looking for an experienced Merchandiser or a Junior Merchandiser who is ready to progress to join their growing team.
This position is based at the company’s northern UK head office, with relocation support available for the right candidate. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of merchandise planning and trading within a retail division.
- Develop commercial merchandise plans to achieve agreed sales, profit and stock targets, using historical performance, customer trends and forecasting.
- Create and manage seasonal range, sales, space and inventory plans that support business goals.
- Ensure product assortments are balanced across locations, delivering the right mix and depth of stock for individual stores.
- Establish pricing, volume and cost plans that align with seasonal trading periods and profitability expectations.
- Analyse sales, stock and margin performance, taking timely action to capitalise on opportunities and minimise commercial risk.
- Plan and review promotional activity, measuring results and adapting future plans to improve performance.
- Maintain strong stock availability through effective allocation, replenishment planning and open-to-buy management.
- Monitor purchasing requirements throughout each trading period to ensure stock commitments remain aligned with demand.
- Build productive relationships with suppliers to support reliable deliveries and strong operational performance.
- Regularly review store performance, customer demand and competitor activity to identify areas for improvement and growth.
- Visit stores to gain first-hand insight into trading performance, merchandising standards and customer behaviour.
- Lead and support the allocation team, promoting accuracy, efficiency, collaboration and continuous improvement.
This role would suit a commercially minded merchandising professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced retail environment and has a strong understanding of planning, forecasting, stock management and trading performance. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to influence stakeholders across multiple departments are essential.
