Electronic & Continuing Resources Librarian
Electronic & Continuing Resources Librarian reports to the Assistant Director of Collections for Electronic Resources and Licensing. The role leads acquisition, licensing, access management, and ongoing evaluation of electronic resources that support research, teaching, and public service at the University of Georgia.
Responsibilities- Oversee the licensing, procurement, renewal, and troubleshooting of continuing resources across all media formats.
- Act as the primary point of contact for access issues for library staff and UGA students, faculty, and staff.
- Design and implement effective workflows incorporating current technologies and standards, staying current with trends in electronic resource management, licensing, access models, and scholarly publishing.
- Support collections budget management by maintaining accurate resource data and ensuring responsible stewardship.
- Hire, train, evaluate, and manage a small team (~2 staff), setting performance goals and developing training workshops.
- Negotiate favorable pricing and foster working relationships with vendors, publishers, and consortia partners; resolve access, order, receiving, and payment issues.
- Notify vendors of renewal and cancellation decisions and communicate changes to relevant user communities.
- Engage professionally by pursuing research, scholarly endeavors, participation in professional organizations, and library-wide governance.
- ALA‑accredited Master’s in Library and Information Science or a relevant terminal degree.
- At least 2 years of experience in an electronic resources or acquisitions environment.
- Understanding of vendor relations and negotiations for electronic resources.
- Ability to gather and analyze budgetary and statistical data.
- Knowledge of current e‑resource standards and protocols (KBART, COUNTER, SERU).
- Familiarity with electronic resource tools such as link resolvers, discovery services, knowledge bases, and electronic resource management systems.
- Experience planning, leading, and evaluating e‑resource systems and workflows.
- Knowledge of technical challenges related to online delivery of e‑resources.
- Ability to assess, develop, and implement technology to promote effective departmental management.
- Ability to work independently, exercise initiative, and demonstrate flexibility.
- Ability to supervise, train, and collaborate to develop a staff team.
- Knowledge of Ex Libris Alma or Primo VE.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated complex problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
- Minimum salary begins at $60,000; offers commensurate with experience.
- Work is contractual (12 months), non‑tenure track, faculty rank librarian (I‑IV) based on qualifications.
