The Armed Security Officer is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff; and for interacting with people, with an emphasis on professional service and customer relations. The officer should have a working knowledge and understanding of the use of deadly physical force and work closely with staff, local law enforcement, and other government agencies.
Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.
Job Description Patrol Activity- Direct visitors, patients and employees to appropriate locations and intervene to prevent and control disturbances.
- Protect, secure, and safeguard all persons on property.
- Provide way‑finding and general assistance for patients and visitors during routine security duties.
- Relate to customers, provide clear communication in a courteous, professional manner, and offer appropriate de‑escalation techniques in a variety of situations.
- Monitor activity via closed circuit television and various alarm systems that terminate within security.
- Effectively handle radio and telephone communications.
- Complete case reports, maintenance logs, the daily data entry and any other necessary documentation in a professional manner.
- Review roll call, emails, and other pertinent information on a daily basis.
- Use photographic documentation to supplement written reports when appropriate.
- Successfully complete all mandatory training required by the department.
- Complete and maintain all additional training associated with firearms.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required with applicable Criminal Justice experience
- OR
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Valid driver’s license and must be insurable by the Hospital insurance carrier
- Successfully completed an accredited police academy firearms course, or a state approved concealed carry firearms course, or an approved firearms training program, or related military firearms training.
- Successfully pass a Psychological Evaluation.
- Successful completion of weapons retention training.
- 6 months of SEH Security Officer 1 experience
- OR
- Current Sworn Law Enforcement Officer
- OR
- Honorably discharged member of the Armed Forces
