Job SummaryThe Armed Security Officer is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff, and for interacting with people in a professional and customer‑friendly manner. This position works closely with staff, local law enforcement, and other government agencies.
Responsibilities Patrol Activity- Directs visitors, patients, and employees to appropriate locations and intervenes to prevent and control disturbances.
- Protects, secures, and safeguards all persons on SEH property.
- Provides way‑finding and general assistance for patients and visitors during routine security duties.
- Relates to customers, provides clear communications in a courteous, professional manner, and offers appropriate de‑escalation techniques in a variety of situations.
- Monitors activity via closed circuit television and alarm systems that terminate within the security network.
- Handles radio and telephone communications efficiently.
- Completes case reports, maintenance logs, daily data entry, and any other necessary documentation in a professional manner.
- Reviews roll call, emails, and other pertinent information on a daily basis.
- Uses photographic documentation to supplement written reports when appropriate.
- Successfully completes all mandatory training required by the department.
- Maintains all additional firearms training.
- At all times performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED with applicable criminal‑justice experience; OR Bachelor’s Degree.
- Valid driver’s license and must be insurable by the hospital insurance carrier.
- Successfully completed an accredited police‑academy firearms course, a state‑approved concealed‑carry firearms course, an approved firearms training program, or related military firearms training.
- Successfully passes a psychological evaluation.
- Successful completion of weapons‑retention training.
- Six months of SEH Security Officer I experience; OR current sworn law enforcement officer; OR honorably discharged member of the armed forces.
