Introduction to the roleWe are seeking a reliable and safety‑focused Trades Assistant to join our workshop team in Henderson.
In this role, you will assist the trades team and carry out labour and repair activities on equipment to ensure all aspects of the repairs business run smoothly and service expectations are achieved.
This is a hands‑on position working in a heavy industrial environment, supporting skilled tradespeople and contributing to the safe, efficient delivery of workshop operations.
What you'll do:- Operate forklifts and overhead cranes as required
- Assist qualified tradespeople with allocated tasks
- Conduct daily housekeeping in the immediate workplace and surrounding areas
- Perform general labouring and handyman duties to support facility operations
- Communicate clearly with the Supervisor and Leading Hand regarding service requirements
- Adhere to company standards relating to behaviour, appearance and work practices
- Ensure correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is used at all times and take responsibility for personal health, safety and job performance
- Experience using hand tools
- EWP ticket
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to undertake repetitive work while maintaining a high level of attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Positive and proactive approach to safety
- Previous exposure to a workshop or maintenance environment
- Plastic and/or poly welding and repair experience (desirable)
- Confined Space ticket (desirable)
- Basic or Intermediate Riggers Ticket (desirable)
- Working at Heights ticket (desirable)
