HVAC Service Technician
With both hourly pay and commissions, your total yearly income can range from $75,000 to $140,000.

As an HVAC Service Technician, you’ll diagnose, maintain, and repair heating and cooling systems in residential settings, ensuring systems operate efficiently and customers receive exceptional service.
Key Sub Tasks- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ventilation equipment
- Perform routine maintenance and preventative service to extend system life and optimize performance
- Communicate clearly with customers to explain issues, outline solutions, and provide recommendations for system care or upgrades
- Document all work performed, including materials used, system readings, and service notes in the company’s reporting system
- Follow all safety procedures, code requirements, and company standards on every job
- Collaborate with dispatch, sales, and other teams to ensure timely service, proper parts availability, and high customer satisfaction
- Continuously stay updated on HVAC technology, tools, and industry best practices to improve service quality
If you have strong technical skills, a problem‑solving mindset, and enjoy working directly with customers, you’ll thrive as an HVAC Service Technician. You should have experience diagnosing and repairing HVAC systems, knowledge of safety and code compliance, and the ability to manage time efficiently in the field. Strong communication skills and a commitment to delivering a high‑quality customer experience are essential.
