Negotiable depending on qualifications or experience (Minimum $58,260; Median $72,176)

- 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday

JOB DUTIES

Operates a motor vehicle to respond to various locations and inspects, repairs, installs and maintains electrical circuits and equipment. Inspects, repairs, installs and maintains low and high voltage service ranging from 12 to 460 volts, three phase. Bends and installs conduit as required. Serves as lead on electrical installations and electrical service on projects and renovations. Repairs, installs, and services security equipment including card access, intrusion, and camera systems.

Makes electrical sketches, reads blueprints, provides cost estimates, recommends purchase of appropriate materials, maintains inventory of equipment and materials, completes required reports, assists outside vendors and is active in project engineering. Promotes and implements energy efficient and retrofit programs. Provides electrical leadership to other employees engaged in the support of electrical repairs.

Performs general county facility maintenance work including, but not limited to; install and repair plumbing fixtures and water heaters; reads blueprints to determine locations of equipment and routing of existing service piping; performs general carpentry and plumbing work; snow removal; grounds keeping, etc.

Repairs, replaces and re-wires HVAC motors, compressors, controls.

Works alone or with other persons in short- or long-term team projects to resolve problems or conflicts in any area of county operations or to complete assigned projects at the direction of any county supervisor or Department Head when assigned. Participates in cross-training and maintains proficiency in area of cross-training as necessary. New and other related duties as assigned. Works aggressively to reduce or eliminate safety/risk concerns in work location.

Reports safety/risk management issues to immediate supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Also requires an Ohio electrical contractor certification or equivalent and a minimum of five years of experience in the following areas: electrical and security technologies, installation of new equipment and materials, repair and troubleshooting of existing electrical equipment and systems; and interpretation of technical manuals, drawings, and specifications. The position requires demonstrated knowledge of the installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical and electronic systems, circuits and equipment.

Candidates must be skilled in reading blueprints and schematics and possess strong problem‑solving abilities. Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field is required. The employee is expected to rely on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish work objectives and to perform a variety of complex tasks. The ability to work cooperatively with co-workers on group projects is essential.

Work environment conditions may involve safety and/or health considerations including exposure to dirt, dust, varying temperatures and potentially hazardous equipment. The position requires moderate physical activity, including lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, stooping and bending. Working in close proximity to motorized equipment and tools requires normal vision and hearing acuity. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
