Major Duties
- Under general supervision, perform preventive and responsive maintenance tasks, inspect mechanical rooms, and ensure operational efficiency of campus HVAC systems.
- Regularly monitor central utility plants, perform chemical adjustments to water systems, and maintain records and logs.
- Collaborate with various trade teams on facility projects and repairs.
- Respond promptly to customer trouble calls and emergencies to maintain climate control, resolve mechanical system issues, and address power disruptions.
- Operate vehicles safely on campus and contribute to maintaining clean, serviceable mechanical and utility areas.
Responsibilities may include other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Four years of progressively responsible experience leading to journey-level skills in a mechanical or facilities/building trade, or any equivalent combination of training and experience that demonstrates journey-level skills (e.g., completion of an applicable apprenticeship program).
- Preferred:
California Driver’s License and EPA Universal Certification.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Thorough understanding of HVAC systems and central utility plant operations, climate control, system monitoring, and water treatment practices.
- Understanding of building mechanical systems, boiler operations, safety protocols, emissions testing, and maintaining mechanical spaces.
- Proficiency in using building automation systems to diagnose, adjust, and resolve issues to ensure campus-wide operational performance.
- Ability to collaborate with diverse trades teams on facility repair projects and perform general mechanical maintenance and minor repairs.
- Capability to address emergency and routine maintenance requests, document readings, and communicate issues to management around the clock.
- Proactive problem-solving and clear documentation of activities.
- Integrity of safety and compliance processes.
