This is a full‑time temporary position for a Technician, Equipment Operator at the Kemess Mine in north‑central British Columbia.
Type:
Fixed‑term 4‑month contract.
Union membership under the International Union of Operating Engineers is required. The role is camp‑based with a 14‑day on / 14‑day off rotation and a 12‑hour daily schedule. The position reports to the Site Services Supervisor and involves operating heavy equipment for summer projects scopes, performing inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs.

About the Kemess MineKemess is located in north‑central British Columbia, approximately 250 km north of Smithers and 430 km northwest of Prince George, with fly‑in access. The property hosts the former Kemess South (KS) Mine, the Kemess Underground (KUG) deposit, and the Kemess East (KE) deposit. Existing on‑site infrastructure includes offices, a warehouse, laydowns, maintenance facilities, a 300‑person accommodation camp, crushed ore stockpile and reclaim, access and service roads, an airstrip, explosives magazines, and an electrical substation.
Responsibilities- Operate various large equipment (loader, excavator, grader, dozer, etc.) in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations.
- Ensure proper operation of equipment by performing regular functionality checks.
- Document regular maintenance checks to maintain adequate records of equipment performance.
- Provide preventative maintenance checks to keep equipment safe and operational.
- Regularly clean equipment to preserve its quality and functionality.
- Perform minor repairs on equipment issues.
- Report needs for larger repairs to the appropriate parties.
- Commit to overall safety by taking extra precautions in a demanding work environment.
- Willing and capable of performing manual labor and other tasks on site as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience working with heavy equipment.
- Valid class 5 Canadian Driver’s License.
- Knowledge of proper operation of heavy equipment.
- Proven safety and attendance record.
- Ability to maintain, inspect, clean, and occasionally repair heavy equipment.
- Strong work ethic and physical ability to lift 50+ pounds.
- Required to meet pre‑employment testing requirements.
- Hourly rate of $45.87.
