Diesel Mechanics​/Technicians- Norwalk, OH

Overview

Hill International Trucks, the Tri‑State area’s leading medium‑ and heavy‑duty truck and trailer dealership, is seeking Diesel Technicians for its new location in Norwalk, OH. The primary responsibility is to repair and maintain diesel‑engine industrial trucks in accordance with dealership and factory specifications. The position is full‑time.

• Perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
• Diagnose the cause of any malfunction and execute repairs.
• Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Save and tag parts of the job if under warranty or as requested by the customer.
• Examine assigned vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
• Communicate with the service advisor/dispatcher immediately if additional work is needed, the outlined work is not required, or repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
• Document all work performed and recommendations on the repair order.
• Participate in manufacturer‑sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
• Report machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
• Ensure that vehicles and shop areas remain clean and orderly.
• Maintain and be accountable for all dealership‑owned tools and manuals, returning them in the same condition as received.
• Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right‑to‑Know.
• Operate all tools and equipment safely.
• Report any safety issues immediately to management.

• Supervise the work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.
• Road test vehicles when required.

• Associate’s degree from a two‑year college or technical school, or six months to one year of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications preferred but not required.
• Valid CDL Class B license preferred but not required.

• Requires standing for long periods.
• Requires bending, stooping, and kneeling for long periods.
• Requires frequent repetitive hand motion.
• Requires lifting 5 to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally 50 to 100 lbs.
• Requires performing detailed, knowledgeable work accurately.
• Occasional exposure to engine exhaust fumes.
• Work overtime as required.
