By joining our Kenton County Unit as a Highway Technician Assistant II, you'll have the opportunity toperform basic level work and assists with intermediate level work in roadway or roadside maintenance operations. Learns to operate intermediate equipment.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Operate dump trucks with snow plow and salt spreader to work in the winter months.
- Operate intermediate equipment such as asphalt distributors, backhoes, belt loaders, concrete mixers,front-end loaders, hydro-seeders, pipe cleaners, road wideners, rollers, skid steers, and tow pavers. Also rolling of hot mix, application of chemicals.
- Installation of drainage structures.
- Flag for operations requiring traffic control.
- Serve as quality assurance inspector for pipe laying, concrete coring, earthwork, asphalt laying and guardrail installation for compliance with plans and specifications.
- Flagger to provide traffic control.
- Perform basic surveying activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Ideal candidate will have experience in:
- Experience in operating intermediate equipment.
- Experience quality assurance for single activities of construction and maintenance work.
- Experience in traffic control.
- Experience In operating snow and ice plowing skills

Minimum RequirementsEDUCATION: High school graduate.

SKILLS:
Must have two years of construction or highway maintenance experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for
EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of a college or university with an associate's degree in engineering technology, construction management, engineering science, engineering mechanics, geology, earth science, industrial drafting, design technology, construction technology, or a related field will substitute for two (2) years of the highway related experience in construction and maintenance. College coursework related to any of these fields will substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be 18 years of age.
