Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Lead Safety Guard, the safety guards within the BHCC provide persons, families, or vulnerable populations with support needed to cope with chronic, acute, or terminal illnesses, physical or developmental disabilities. The role of this position is to ensure the safety of all clients, staff and visitors to the BHCC.
- Provide support to the Crisis Walk‑in by maintaining presence in the area and assisting with wandering and storing clients/visitors belongings upon entering the building.
- Provide support to the Crisis Stabilization unit by maintaining presence in the area and assisting with any needs of the unit, including de‑escalation of clients as part of the response team if indicated.
- Monitor premises to ensure there are no safety concerns.
- Document any important information, incidents, or items of concern in the Daily Action Log to ensure proper shift‑change report.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Participate in internal and external educational programs and professional meetings as available for continuing professional education.
- Demonstrate a diverse knowledge of rules and regulations that govern the agency, staying current on updates and changes in regulations and requirements of DBHDD and other overseers of services.
- Ensure ongoing adherence to all agency policies.
- Represent the agency and program in an informed and courteous manner with all external contacts and community linkages.
- Maintain professional behavior when completing tasks and interacting with others as a team member.
- Communicate effectively and collaboratively with others to obtain information.
- Promote customer satisfaction and assist with resolving grievances, complaints, and inquiries.
- Work with BHCC staff in a team approach.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Previous security experience
- Previous CPI training experience
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
