EMPLOYMENT SERVICES CONSULTANT

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

  • Also requires one year of experience as an employment service consultant or two years’ experience as a unit support worker in employment services.
  • Or completion of undergraduate major core course work in behavioral science, social science, or education, two courses or twelve months experience in interviewing techniques, and two courses or twelve months experience in typing, keyboarding, database and spreadsheets, Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
  • Or completion of two years of technical education in behavioral science or social science, two courses or twelve months experience in interviewing techniques, and two courses or twelve months experience in typing, keyboarding, database and spreadsheets, Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
  • Or two courses or twelve months experience in behavioral science, social science, or customer service techniques, one course or six months experience in business mathematics, one course or six months experience in Business English, two courses or twelve months experience in interviewing techniques, and two courses or twelve months experience in typing, keyboarding, database and spreadsheets, Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Or education, training and/or experience in an amount equal to the Minimum Qualifications stated above.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under general supervision is responsible for administering programs such as Ohio Works First (OWF) Work Activities, Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program employment and training (SNAP E&T), Comprehensive Case Management Employment Program (CCMEP), Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), and the Benefit Bridge/transition program, from referral through completion (whether through exit, penalty, or self-sufficiency).. Responsibilities encompass eligibility determination; conducting thorough interviews with applicants/participants;

administering assessments; identifying customer skill sets, abilities, and employment barriers; gathering required program documentation; determining suitability; developing center education, employment plan/activities in accordance with program regulations; facilitating supportive services; identifying needs; and, collaborating with Department of Job and Family Services and other community/partner agencies to provide seamless support to individuals receiving and/or transitioning from public assistance programming to self-sufficiency.
