If so, become a lifeguard for Kentucky State Parks. Kentucky State Parks are great destinations for swimming! Many parks have swimming pools or sandy beaches for all guests. Memorial Day weekend is the official start for the swimming season and the opening day for most pools and beaches.
Kentucky State Parks are looking for enthusiastic, friendly lifeguards dedicated to safety and accident prevention while creating happy and memorable guest experiences. Our lifeguards are eligible for paid leave, paid holidays, employee discounts as well as complimentary activities at the parks.
Kentucky State Parks require our lifeguards to hold current certification from the YMCA, the Starfish Aquatic Institute (Star Guard), or hold an Emergency Water Safety certificate or other current certification that demonstrates lifesaving skills from the American Red Cross.
Responsibilities- Duties of lifeguards include but are not limited to supervising bathing areas to prevent accidents, keeping order, ensuring cleanliness and inspection of the facility. Rescuing bathers in danger of drowning and administering artificial respiration and first aid.
- Duties of lifeguard supervisors include but are not limited to supervising lifeguards, concession stand and bath house personnel; preparing work schedules for lifeguards and other personnel to assure adequate staffing; maintaining the general appearance of the swimming and bath house area; maintaining order; keeping routine records and making simple reports.

Special Requirements (Age, Licensure, Regulation, etc.): Must hold current certification as a lifeguard from the Y.M.C.A., the Starfish Aquatic Institute (Star Guard), or hold an Emergency Water Safety certificate or other current certification which demonstrates lifesaving skills from the American Red Cross. If lifeguard certificate is from Starfish Aquatic Institute, employing agency must certify demonstrated competency pool depth is consistent with depth of pool(s) to be guarded.
Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
