Transit Drive; Part-Time

The City of Maysville is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious, part-time Transit Driver to join our team. This position is responsible for providing reliable and courteous transportation services to residents and visitors while ensuring the safe operation of City transit vehicles. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding all City, state, and federal transportation regulations.

• Operates a transit bus along assigned routes, maintaining schedules and ensuring timely service.
• Provides excellent customer service, including answering questions about routes and schedules.
• Conducts pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safe and reliable operation; reports any mechanical issues immediately.
• Follows all state and federal traffic laws, safety regulations, and departmental procedures.
• Collects fares when applicable.
• Ensures passenger safety, including monitoring behavior and enforcing rules when necessary.
• Communicates effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and emergency personnel when required.
• Performs routine cleaning of the bus interior to maintain a professional and sanitary environment.
• Assists with special routes, event transportation, or other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Kentucky driver’s license; CDL with passenger endorsement preferred.
• Clean driving record.
• Prior experience driving passenger vehicles or working with the public is preferred.

• Strong knowledge of local streets and geography.
• Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with diverse populations.
• Patience, professionalism, and customer service orientation.

Pay Rate: $14 - $23 per hour, based upon experience and qualifications.
