Transport passengers with registered disabilities in an accessible van to and from campus locations in accordance with applicable laws and department procedures. Assist passengers entering and exiting the vehicle as necessary. Inspect vehicle before, during, and after shift to ensure vehicle is in proper operating condition. Complete necessary paperwork, including time sheets and vehicle condition reports. Operate other vehicle equipment such as electronic AVL equipment and wheelchair ramps.
Applicants are required to comply with drug and alcohol testing by the US Department of Transportation.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to operate and maintain ADA vans.
- Physical ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
- Proficient in using tablets and handheld radios.
- Good communication skills and ability to work with persons of various backgrounds, including those with disabilities.
- Knowledge of ADA regulations and safe van operation.
- Ability to use AVL equipment and wheelchair ramps.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work with a tablet, handheld radio, and learn company software.
Sitting for long periods, lifting up to 15 pounds, and assisting in securing a wheelchair with restraints.
