Job Title

Permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1)

The selected candidate will be placed in the classification in which they meet minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities
  • Serve the public and work to make the roads in Ohio safer.
  • Attend training to obtain or maintain a Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement.
  • Perform highway maintenance activities including flagging, pothole patching, guardrail repair, litter pickup, and mowing.
  • Perform snow and ice operations.

Qualifications

Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1)

  • Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition and subtraction.
  • Formal education in reading, writing, and speaking common English vocabulary.
  • Must obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.

Highway Technician 1 (HT1)

  • Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, decimals, percentages, and fractions.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak common English vocabulary.
  • 3 months training or 3 months experience operating basic equipment.
  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.
Other Details
  • Transportation – District 02.
  • District 2 Garage – Lucas County.
  • Compensation: HMW 1 – $21.48/hour; HT 1 – $22.29/hour.
  • Schedule:

    Full-time.
  • Work Hours:

    7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (varies).
  • Union: OCSEA.
