Materials Handler II

Position Summary:

Performs manual and clerical duties related to shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing and delivering a variety of materials, equipment and supplies. Incumbents perform many of the same duties as the Materials Handler I, but are distinguished by their broader knowledge of the materials handling operation, independent judgement, on‑job training, and problem solving. May need to lift heavy objects. Work also involves facility operation, closing, and cleaning.

Work is performed under the general supervision of a Retail Dining Manager or Food Operations Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Issue food and supplies, weigh and measure as indicated on order (30% of time).
  • Unload and unpack incoming food and supplies; check delivery receipts with orders, verify accuracy of requisitions and shipping orders (25% of time).
  • Keep the storeroom premises clean, dispose of rubbish, perform routine clerical tasks, and assist with other management‑assigned tasks (25% of time).
  • Assist in keeping a perpetual inventory of stock; place items on shelves, assist in periodic inventories, record items received in computer (15% of time).
  • Record items received in computer (5% of time).
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge of warehousing and inventory control.
  • Computer literate.
Physical Demands
  • Heavy lifting up to 100 pounds; push/pull activities with products weighing up to 50 pounds; perform repetitive wrist, arm, shoulder motions; reach, climb, balance, crouch, twist, crawl, kneel; work in noisy, hot/cold environments with chemicals, cleaning equipment, dust, fumes, odors; long hours standing; work in various temperature conditions.
