As a Patient Access Associate, you’re often the first point of contact during some of a patient’s most stressful and urgent situations. Whether it’s an unexpected emergency or a critical moment, you bring calm, clarity, and compassion from the very start.
Your ability to stay focused, organized, and empathetic helps patients and families feel supported—even in high-pressure situations.
What You’ll Do (aka Keep Things Moving in Critical Moments)- Greet and assist patients and families with urgency and empathy
- Register patients quickly and accurately during emergency visits
- Verify insurance, demographics, and required documentation
- Communicate clearly and compassionately in high-stress situations
- Support admissions, transfers, and discharges as needed
- Partner with clinical teams to maintain patient flow and efficiency
- You thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- You stay calm, focused, and professional under pressure
- You can multitask without sacrificing accuracy
- You lead with empathy while maintaining efficiency
- You communicate effectively with patients, families, and care teams
- Strong customer service skills and emotional intelligence
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritize and adapt quickly in real time
- High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
In the Emergency Department, patients don’t have the luxury of planning ahead—they rely on you in critical moments.
Your role helps create order, clarity, and support when it’s needed most.
