SiS is a commercial furniture and interiors partner delivering turnkey solutions for healthcare, corporate, and education environments across the Gulf Coast and beyond.

We are seeking a Junior Commercial Interior Designer to join our growing design team. This is an entry-level position designed for an individual who is eager to build a career in commercial interiors while learning every aspect of the furniture dealership industry.

This role is ideal for a motivated designer who enjoys problem solving, is highly organized, and is excited to develop technical, design, and project coordination skills while working alongside experienced designers and project managers.

Position Overview

The Junior Commercial Interior Designer supports furniture planning, specification, project coordination, and client deliverables across multiple commercial interior projects.

Working under the guidance of senior designers and project managers, this position assists with design development, furniture specification, finish selections, presentations, procurement coordination, and installation support while developing a strong understanding of commercial furniture systems and dealership operations.

This is a hands-on role offering significant opportunities for mentorship, professional development, and long-term career growth within SiS.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with commercial furniture planning, space layouts, and furniture specifications for healthcare, workplace, and education projects.
  • Develop finish selections, digital presentations, renderings, and other client-facing presentation materials.
  • Prepare plans, elevations, installation drawings, furniture budgets, and preliminary pricing.
  • Review architectural drawings and support project coordination with senior designers, architects, contractors, manufacturers, and installers.
  • Participate in client meetings, furniture inventories, site visits, field verifications, and installation coordination.
  • Assist in managing projects from design development through procurement, installation, punch lists, warranty items, and project closeout.
  • Track project information including lead times, approvals, finish selections, submittals, and project documentation to ensure timely execution.
  • Maintain and organize the firm's materials library, including fabric, finish, laminate, flooring, and product samples.
  • Coordinate with manufacturer representatives to request samples, pricing, literature, and product information while maintaining strong vendor relationships.
  • Stay current on new products, finishes, manufacturer updates, and industry trends, and share knowledge with the design team.
  • Assist with manufacturer presentations, lunch-and-learns, continuing education events, and the development of internal design standards and resource libraries.
  • Maintain organized project files and contribute to continuous improvements in team processes, design standards, and project workflows.
  • Develop a strong understanding of commercial furniture systems, dealership operations, product applications, and specification best practices
Procurement & Technical Requirements
  • Learn the commercial furniture procurement lifecycle, including specifications, quoting, order acknowledgments, and project documentation
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing furniture specifications and Bills of Material (BOMs) Description
  • Support quote preparation, revisions, and proposal development
  • Assist with reviewing manufacturer acknowledgments for accuracy
  • Learn order entry requirements, finish approvals, and internal documentation processes
  • Develop an understanding of lead times, installation sequencing, and project coordination
  • Build proficiency using CET Designer, AutoCAD, manufacturer software, and specification tools
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or related field
  • 0–3 years of professional interior design experience
  • Commercial interiors experience preferred but not required
  • Furniture dealership experience is a plus, but not required
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD required
  • Experience with CET Designer or Revit preferred
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
