Your Role:Sr. HSE Specialist
The Sr. HSE Specialist serves as the lead technical authority for environmental, health, and safety compliance and program execution for a project. This role partners directly with site leadership and the HSE Manager to drive continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, and safety culture development. The Sr. HSE Specialist works independently under general supervision and partners closely with operations and leadership teams.
What You’ll Do- Lead development and execution of site HSE programs and strategy
- Conduct regular site visits and safety audits of crews to ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory standards; provides feedback on positive behaviors and opportunities for improvement
- Promotes health safety within an organization, and eliminates or controls hazardous conditions due to human error or equipment and machine operations which could lead to injury or property damage
- Identifies, analyzes, and controls work environments; and designs programs to control, eliminate, and prevent hazards, disease, or injury
- Lead audits, inspections, and regulatory interactions
- Review and provide feedback on Safety Plans and Work Plans and validates adherence to Safety Plans and Work Plans in the field
- Serve as the site subject matter expert for health, safety, and environmental compliance requirements
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and development of corrective and preventive actions
Develop, deliver, and track employee safety training programs - Maintain regulatory documentation, permits, inspections, and compliance records
- Partner with operations and maintenance to integrate safe work practices
- Support emergency response planning and drills
- Prepare reports and metrics for leadership
- 5+ years of industry experience is required
- COSS, CHST, OHST, GSP, ASP, or CUSP is preferred
- 4-year degree in Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment or a related field is preferred
- Strong professional communication skills and the ability to interact with both field crews and leadership
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience with safety management systems or databases is preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing documentation and compliance records
- Ability to travel to field sites regularly while maintaining a consistent office presence
- Familiarity with OSHA and utility-specific safety standards
