About the Opportunity:
Join a pioneering force in satellite communications as a Control Systems Engineering Manager (Spacecraft). You'll have the opportunity to spearhead a specialized group focused on ensuring the optimal operation and well-being of a multifaceted network of orbiting satellites. With the recent expansion of our state-of-the-art Satellite Operations Control Center in Covington, LA, we are poised for significant growth in next-generation satellite and connectivity solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of satellite engineers, overseeing recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
- Manage the Attitude and Orbit Control Subsystem (AOCS) for a multi-generational satellite fleet, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
- Act as the subject matter expert on AOCS components, including sensors (earth sensors, sun sensors, magnetometers, star trackers, rate gyroscopes) and actuators (magnetic torquer bars, reaction wheels)
- Monitor satellite AOCS in real-time, responding promptly to on-orbit anomalies and conducting thorough investigations to predict future performance.
- Develop, test, and implement satellite procedure scripts to enhance operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in satellite engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proficiency in tools such as Satellite Tool Kit, MATLAB, and Python.
- Excellent ability to prioritize tasks, maintain meticulous records, and juggle competing timelines in a dynamic and rapidly evolving setting.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of interacting clearly and concisely with all departments and levels of management.
- Willingness to work outside of normal working hours to support satellite launches, orbit raising, and anomaly recovery.
