Phlebotomist

Join LCMC Health as a Phlebotomist and play a vital role in patient care at Lakeview Hospital.

This position goes beyond drawing blood; it involves technique, compassion, and accountability in specimen collection and data management.

• Perform venipuncture and skin puncture following standard procedures.
• Use handheld devices for specimen collection.
• Monitor collection lists and document status of outstanding collections.
• Ensure STAT specimens are delivered to the lab within 15 minutes of collection or pickup.
• Update specimen status with accurate collection and receipt dates/times and deliver to the appropriate lab section promptly.
• Communicate complaints or problems to the department supervisor.
• Collect data for the quality assurance program, maintain thorough documentation, and clear collection pending reports.
• Demonstrate knowledge of standard phlebotomy techniques and appropriate blood processing and handling procedures.
• Maintain and advocate a safe environment for staff and patients.
• Engage with patients, families, and care team members regarding significant events or patient concerns.
• Ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communication, and an exceptional patient experience.
• Assist teammates when needed without being asked.

• High School Diploma/GED or 2 years of applicable experience or phlebotomy certification.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
