Work Shift:
1 p‑9:30 p (T, W, Th).
Demonstrates competence in all aspects of sterile processing: decontamination, preparation, packaging, sterilization, sterile storage, and distribution of sterile medical devices. Responsible for safe handling and care of equipment, instruments, and supplies. Tests, monitors and operates all sterile processing and surgery sterilizers.
Minimum Qualifications- High school education or equivalent is required.
- Hospital and/or healthcare experience is required with sterile processing experience preferred.
- Current BLS certification preferred from any ILCOR‑provided courses such as, but not limited to:
Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check‑off.
- Certification from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) Sterile Processing Technician or from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) within 12 months of hire.
- Or sterile processing applicant able to attain certification within 12 months of hire.
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include, but are not limited to, standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
Physical Effort Required- Constant (67%-100%) – handling/feeling, talking, hearing, seeing
- Frequently (34%-66%) – lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching
- Occasionally (1%-33%) – climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.), balancing, stooping, crouching
