Caliber Therapies is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Support Specialist to provide individualized, goal‑oriented support that empowers clients to live as independently as possible. This role focuses on promoting independence, life skill development, and meaningful community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:Life Skills Coach
- Increase community participation through structured social and recreational activities.
- Improve physical health and emotional wellness by integrating adaptive strategies into the client’s daily routine.
- Explore and pursue volunteer opportunities, educational goals, or employment pathways aligned with the client’s interests.
- Enhance communication and interpersonal skills to foster stronger connections and self‑advocacy.
- Engage in consistent “real‑world” practice of skills introduced during sessions.
Community Support Specialists do not:
- Provide assistance with bathing, dressing, medication, or other home healthcare tasks.
- Perform transfers. Clients requiring transfer assistance must be accompanied by a family member or home health aide.
- Recognizes and builds on individual strengths.
- Embraces diverse backgrounds and experiences.
This position requires consistency, structure, and a purposeful approach. Sessions must be intentional and goal‑driven, offering meaningful opportunities for skill‑building and personal growth. The relationship between the Support Specialist and client is rooted in trust, respect, and responsibility.

Covington, LA (mileage reimbursed) - Employment Type:
Contract position with potential for increased hours based on performance and availability - Responsibilities may include driving, assisting with transfers, and supporting activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed.
- Self‑motivated and ethical.
- Organized and ambitious.
- Skilled at taking initiative and meeting deadlines.
- Strong communicators who excel in a collaborative environment.
- Professional Liability Insurance (must have or be willing to obtain upon hire).
- CPR/First Aid Certification for Pediatrics & Adults (must have or be willing to obtain upon hire).
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a background check and driving history check.
- Current full‑coverage auto insurance.
- iPad (or similar device) for documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- Experience working with brain injury, intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), mental health, and/or veteran populations.
- Military service or experience with veterans (not required but a plus).
- Ownership of or willingness to purchase a tablet for documentation.
