Job Details
• Position is located in a hospital NICU setting with Level III acuity,
• Standard patient ratio is 1:2-3 in the NICU,
• Floating is required to the Normal Observation Unit (NOU) with ratios of 1:4-6, as well as to the normal newborn nursery,
• Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-07:15),
• Every other weekend is required,
• At least one major and one minor holiday coverage is required,
• Self-scheduling is utilized for this unit,
• Epic EMR experience is required,
• Procedures performed include assisting with chest tube insertion, PICC/UAC/UVC placement, CBGs/ABGs, intubation, nitric oxide administration, oxygen administration, exchange transfusions, x-rays, ultrasounds, echocardiograms, and EEGs,
Job Requirements
• Active Louisiana (LA) or Compact RN license currently in hand,
• Current certifications: BLS and NRP,
• Minimum 3 years of NICU experience required,
• Level III NICU experience required,
• Delivery attendance experience (vaginal and C-section) required,
• Epic EMR experience required,
• Proficiency in neonatal IV placement and lab draws,
• Experience with ventilator and central line management,
• Experience with medication administration via multiple routes (IV, IM, SQ, ETT, OGT, NGT, oral, rectal, topical, eye drops/ointment),
• Blood administration experience required,
• Supervisor reference dated within the last 12 months required for consideration,
• Copy of Driver's License required for consideration,
• Any employment gaps of more than 30 days must be documented and explained,
Additional Information
• Responsibilities include attending deliveries, transitioning newborns, admitting and discharging NICU and NOU patients, coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team (NNP, MD, RN, Social Services, RT, Radiology, OT), educating and updating parents, and supporting breastfeeding,
• Grape/purple scrubs are required,
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position,
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates,
• RTO is limited to 5 days or fewer for the duration of the contract,
• Any prior permanent employee of an LCMC facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered for a travel assignment
