The Genesis is looking for a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our team in Covington, LA. Your primary goal will be providing mental health care to our patients, offering comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and therapeutic interventions.

Responsibilities- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments for patients with various mental health conditions.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medication management and therapeutic interventions.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans, adjusting as necessary.
- Provide patient education on mental health conditions, treatment options, and medication management.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, psychologists, and therapists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care in accordance with practice policies and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to stay current with best practices in psychiatric care.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and practice efficiency.
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Certification as a Psychiatric‑Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) by a recognized certifying body.
- Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
- 5 years of experience in psychiatric/mental health care, preferably in a private practice setting.
- Strong clinical skills in psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in EHR systems.
- Experience with a diverse patient population, including children, adolescents, and adults.
This job requires employees to have a full range of physical capabilities, including the ability to handle and lift patients, demonstrate manual and finger dexterity, and maintain good eye‑hand coordination. Employees must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and occasionally lift and carry items up to 40 lbs. Corrected vision and hearing within the normal range are also required.
